Karlstad, Sweden - Team Canada raised eyebrows and made the international inline hockey scene take notice in their 7-6 Bronze Medal loss against Sweden at the IIHF World Inline Hockey Championships.
This was the first time since 1998 that Canada had the opportunity to come back to North America with a medal around their necks after a 10 year absence from the event.
Sweden came into the Bronze Medal game as the favorite as they were looking to take their 4th straight Gold Medal this season until they were upset by the Czech Republic in the Semi-Final.
The Swedes medal game experience showed right off the puck drop as they jumped quickly to a 3-0 nothing lead halfway through the first quarter. Team Canada looked nervous but were kept into the game by standout goalie Brett Leggat as the Canadians found

Karlstad, Sweden - A simple answer for a simple question from Thomas Woods when asked what it will take for Team Canada to beat the USA today in the semifinals of the IIHF World Inline Hockey Championships.
This is the first time Team Canada has advanced to the Semi-Finals at this event, guaranteeing that they will play for a medal tomorrow. The goal is to make that the GOLD medal game.
Team Canada faced the Americans in their first game as a team, losing 7-3. NIHA.ca took a minute with Chris Terry to chat about his heroic performance in the quarterfinals, what Team Canada learned from their first match against the US as well as the Revision Variant Gold wheels he rocked while netting 4 goals yesterday.

After a tough loss for the final round robin game against the Czechs on Wedensday, Team Canada finished 3rd in Pool A putting them through to the Quarterfinals later today.
Thursday of the IIHF World Championships is either a team's easy day or the hardest one they'll have at the tournament. By avoiding the cross-over games and potential automatic relegation, Team Canada was able to use Thursday as a rest-day to focus on today's 2:00 PM puckdrop against Finland.
Kyle Sheen took a minute to chat with NIHA.CA about the day off and the teams attitude going into this important match.

A win against Finland will push Team Canada into the Semi-Finals tomorrow and a guarantee for a Medal game on Sunday. A loss this afternoon and Canada will play in the 5/6 seeding game

Karlstad, Sweden - NIHA.CA sat down with Vic Gervais, Assistant Coach of Team Canada earlier today to discuss the gameplan going into this afternoon's game against Germany at the IIHF Men's World Championships.
In a nutshell, Gervais laid it on the table, " We need to keep it simple"
Thomas Woods, Assistant Captain also chatted with us about his preparations coming into this event compared to last year. A two year veteran of Team Canada and IIHF World Championships, Woods explained that he definitely learned a lot about how to prepare for a high level competition such as this as well as focusing on the different rules played here compared to back home.
Team Canada(0-1) is set to square off against Germany (0-1) today at 4 PM (9 AM CDT).

Karlstad, Sweden - Day 1 at the IIHF World Inline Hockey Championships was an eye-opener for our young Team Canada as Team USA controlled last nights game leading to a 7-2 Team Canada loss.
"We took a lot of positives out of last nights game and it was definitely an eye opener for some of the new players who haven't seen the level of play here at IIHF's before." Mitch Vevang, Team Canada captain explained. "I'm excited about the game today against Germany and I expect us to come out committed to the gameplan in order to get the job done."
Yesterday in Top division action Germany lost in their opening game versus Czech. Republic 9-8 while Sweden and Finland rolled over their competition in Pool A.
